Bridge Auto Correction and Tension Devive

The corrugated bridge automatic web guide and tension control system keeps single face corrugated webs aligned and under stable tension as they leave the bridge storage section. Non contact full width detection, continuous closed loop correction and controlled web tension help the downstream section receive each web in a consistent lateral position with fewer manual adjustments.

  • Product Overview

A corrugator bridge stores and transports single face corrugated webs between upstream production and downstream combining processes. During storage and transfer, the web can drift laterally, wrinkle or enter the next section with uneven tension. These conditions can cause poor alignment during laminating, increase trim loss and require repeated operator intervention.

This system combines web guiding and tension control in one bridge mounted assembly. The guiding section detects the web position without contact and moves the correction mechanism to maintain the selected reference. Depending on the ordered configuration, the operator can use center guiding or edge guiding. The tension section regulates drag on the moving web and includes threading assistance for web loading. The available configurations differ in working width, rated speed, tension control method and electrical components; select the configuration that matches the corrugator layout and number of board plies.

    Working Principle

    1. A full width infrared detector or light curtain continuously reads the lateral position of the single face corrugated web.
    2. The controller compares the measured position with the selected center or edge reference.
    3. When the web moves away from the reference, the controller drives the transverse correction mechanism to restore alignment while the line continues to run.
    4. The tension section applies controlled resistance through the roller assembly. The 2500 mm reference configuration uses manual pressure regulation, while the 1800 mm five ply configuration uses automatic proportional valve control.
    5. An auxiliary threading motor assists web loading. A paper pass switch releases tension when a splice or connector passes through the unit.

    Main Functions

Non contact detection of single face corrugated web position

Continuous closed loop lateral correction during production

Center guiding and edge guiding modes, subject to ordered control configuration

Stable web tension for downstream feeding and combining

Automatic or manually regulated tension control according to configuration

Auxiliary motor for threading a new web through the machine

Tension release when a splice or connector passes the paper pass switch

Automatic adaptation to normal web width changes within the detector coverage, without mechanical sensor repositioning

    Product Advantages

Reduces lateral web drift before the downstream gluing and combining section

Helps maintain consistent alignment between multiple single face webs and the liner

Reduces routine manual correction during continuous production

Supports stable web travel when speed, roll diameter or bridge storage conditions change

Uses non contact infrared detection to avoid marking or mechanically loading the corrugated web

Supports continuous operation through closed loop position control

Provides threading assistance and splice pass tension release for faster, safer web handling

Can be configured for different corrugator widths and ply structures after application review

    Applications

Corrugated cardboard production lines with overhead bridge storage

Three ply, five ply or seven ply corrugators after confirmation of the required number of guiding channels

Single face web alignment before preheating, gluing or final combining

New corrugator installations and bridge section upgradesLines that require center guiding, edge guiding or selectable guiding modes
