HT-PL4-A Valley Beater

The HT-PL4-A Valley Beater is widely used as a standard tester per JIS and TAPPI. Unlike the conventional beater, the roll is fixed, and a constant load is applied to the head plate, thereby constantly giving a uniform beating pressure. It is excellent especially in free beating and wet beating. So it is very effective for quality management.

  • Description

The HT-PL4-A Valley Beater is widely adopted as a standard tester complying with JIS and TAPPI standards. Different from conventional beaters, its roll remains stationary while a constant load is applied to the head plate, delivering consistent and uniform beating pressure. It performs particularly well for free‑beating and wet‑beating applications, making it highly effective for quality‑control purposes.

The laboratory roll is a double‑walled stainless‑steel component, through which the medium circulates around the motor‑driven rotating drum roll.

The drum roll is a 168 mm‑diameter cylinder, horizontally mounted between the bearing support and the inner wall of the tub. Thirty‑two stainless‑steel blades are fitted around the circumference of the knife roll.

The bedplate assembly consists of seven identical chevron‑shaped knives installed in the lead block and embedded in white oak. This structural design avoids metal‑to‑metal contact between the knives. The bedplate is fitted with a rubber diaphragm and can move freely up‑and‑down via the connected lever. The lever load varies according to pulp grade: 2 kg for hardwood pulp and 5.5 kg for softwood (coniferous) pulp.

Nominal roll volume is 23 L, 50L is ok as well. A standard 360 g fibre charge produces a working consistency of 1.57 %.

This machine meets the requirements of ISO 5264‑1, TAPPI‑T200, and GB 7980‑87 Pulps‑Laboratory beating‑Valley beater method. This model allows adjustment of weight‑load pressure and beating time; beating time can also be automatically controlled to achieve different test results.
